Beyond Confocal Microscopy: Using Advanced Tools to Image Across Time, Space, and Scale at the ALMF

Virtual Seminar – September 28th, 2026 – 12 PM

Many researchers on campus know the Advanced Light Microscopy Facility (ALMF) for its conventional confocal microscopy capabilities, but the facility offers many other tools and techniques that can provide new insight into biological and material systems.  Join facility Director Dr. Chris O’Connell and Facility Scientist Dr. Jenna Martin for a virtual seminar that will provide an overview of how the ALMF can expand your imaging toolkit to capture dynamic processes, resolve nanoscale structure, visualize large three-dimensional specimens, and extract quantitative information from imaging data. Learn how live-cell imaging, photostimulation, super-resolution microscopy, lightsheet imaging, image restoration, machine learning, and advanced visualization can help answer research questions that extend well beyond conventional imaging. Contact Jenna Martin with questions at jmartin@uconn.edu.

Date and Time – Monday, September 28th from 12:00-12:45 pm.

Location – Virtual, Microsoft Teams

Registration Form – Fill out the registration form to be provided with a Microsoft Teams invite to the seminar.
